Clinics The term “Clinic” is commonly used for medical offices properly known as “out-patient clinics.” In other words, these are for people who do not require “in-patient” care (hospitalization), although many are associated with hospitals. There are many types of medical clinics including those that provide the same basic care as a traditional general practice medical office; urgent care, which can treat those who might otherwise find themselves at an emergency room for non-life threatening emergencies; all the way down to small clinics operating out of pharmacies or other retail outlets and that only offer routine services such as inoculations, treating minor illnesses like colds and flu, and bandaging minor wounds. Additionally, some clinics specialize in certain areas, like psychotherapy.
