Colorist A colorist specializes in hair-coloring applications and formulations, which may include, but are not limited to highlighting, lowlighting, touch up applications, virgin color applications, corrective color, etc. Most colorists spend their days in the salon or spa working only on color. No cuts, perms, nails, skin etc. In the State of Florida, colorists must have cosmetology licenses.
